Khairat Melayu Islam Victoria was formed in 1990 by a group of Malay Muslim migrants from Singapore, primarily to create a fund to help pay for funeral expenses. As the community grew with an influx of migrants KMIV took it upon itself to conduct activities that would help newcomers adjust to their new environment and keep the community together. Significant events in the Islamic Calendar like Ramadhan, Eid and the Maulidir Rasul were observed annually; regular religious classes and community events were held towards this end. In February 2019 KMIV purchased a warehouse unit in Carrum Downs to house its programs and activities. KMIV is now poised to play a bigger role in building a respectable and dependable Malay Muslim community in a multi-cultural Australia.
To build a cohesive and respectable Malay Muslim community that is exemplary and dependable, towards the realization of a strong, multi-cultural Australia.
